To perform day-to-day duties, users need to find and display information pertinent to their particular job responsibilities. Rather than use standard reports designed for the general population, users can take advantage of TabWare’s query function. Guided by online instruction, the user can create his or her own private query, or a public query if he or she has access rights to do this. For more information on security query capabilities, see Security Queries in TabWare Setup.
From any of the primary search windows, click the Wizard button to access the Query Wizard (the TabWare Setup module offers system administrators specialized query capabilities for accessing security information). By following the instructions, the wizard steps you through a series of windows to construct the query. The steps covered in the process include:
Naming the query and deciding on the query type.
Choosing data elements and deciding on the format for display.
Deciding how you want the information grouped and what totals to display.
Deciding how you want the information sorted.
Choosing selection criteria for certain elements and defining conditions for their display.
Assuming you have the appropriate security privileges, you can use Public Queries. These are queries developed by other users that are made available to you by the system administrator.
The following topics provide information on creating queries as well as sorting, displaying and printing results.
