Requisitions

Reorder Requisitions and Repair Requisitions (when Repairables Tracking is used) are created automatically by the system. These requisitions can be reviewed and approved before being transferred to Purchasing.

The Requisition Search window enables you to select requisition records based on any combination of conditions for data elements found in the Requisitions table. The results can be displayed on the screen, routed to a printer, or selected for further processing.

Navigation buttons at the bottom of the search window enable you to quickly access other windows related to the requisitioning process.

You can create a requisition while simultaneously planning the resources needed to execute a work order. From the Planning tab of the Work Order Notebook, you have the option of clicking a Requisition button to activate the simultaneous planning and requisitioning processes. While entering the items, you have access to the Inventory module to look up item numbers, view descriptions, and copy information to your requisition. If you have responsibility for the Stores inventory, you can create requisition items and have them added to Reorder Processing provided by the Inventory module.

The format of the Requisitions window varies with the method selected for charging the cost of items requested. You can: (1) charge to an account, (2) charge an existing work order, or (3) add records to the reorder cycle if you have responsibility for Stores. Within a given requisition, you can only use one work order number. Otherwise, you can specify a cost distribution at the header level that defaults to the line items but can be altered as needed for individual lines.

If your Stores organization has a plant-wide delivery system, you can specify where and when you want the items delivered. Allowing for multiple deliveries, the items on your requisition can have a phased delivery schedule as well as dispersed delivery points.

Similar to the routing of work orders, you can pass requisitions through a review and approval process. As each step in the process occurs, TabWare adds a record to the Requisition Log that shows the progression of events from entry through transfer to a purchase order. If you are responsible for approving reorders, you may want to view the work order or the charge-to-account requisitions to get more information about the demands that generated the reorder. If your plant has multiple warehouses, you could elect to transfer materials from another stores location rather than to approve the reorder. Click the Go To button on the Requisition Search window and select View Requirements to see the work order status, the requested completion date, the quantity required, and other information to consider before making a decision.

Users with the appropriate privileges can use the Requisitions module to enter requests for goods and services. Links to the Work Orders module allow you to plan the resources needed while simultaneously creating a requisition. Having entered all of the required information, you can then route the request for review and approval. After approval, the process of deciding on the source of supply and making delivery at the time and place requested begins.
