The Message Log window lets you create and send messages to other users, display incoming messages, and perform additional processing.
There are three types of messages used with the TabWare system.
An action message displays in the Message Log window when you have been designated to perform a prescribed action, such as approve a work order. Action messages first appear in blue text. After you have viewed the message, the text color changes to black.
An information message displays when an event has occurred for which you are the requester, planner, or supervisor. For example, if you are the requester for a work order that has reached the Planning Complete status, a TabWare user can send you a message to let you know that the planning has been completed for a work order you have requested. An information message will also be sent if the Define Item Types window in Inventory setup has a check in the box Notify Requester Upon Receipt for at least one item type. When an item of the defined type is received, the requester will receive a message that says Item xxx on Requisition XXXXX has been received. The purchase order number is xxxxxxx-xxxx.
A user message displays when another user sends you a message. User messages can notify you of a meeting, staffing issues, or operational issues.
You can select from the following options for processing messages.
