Receiving Messages for a Job Function

TabWare enables a user in a particular job function to receive notification pertinent to that position. This helps ensure that messages go to whomever is doing that job rather than sending messages to a specific person who may have changed responsibilities. An example of setting up messages for a job function is shown below.

To Receive Messages for the Storeroom:

In Setup-Validation Codes Valid Values, set up a value for Job Function to represent the storeroom.

In Setup-Customizing TabWare-Setup Options-Inventory-Setup Options, click the Define Item Types button and set up one or more item types to Notify Storeroom Upon Receipt.

Enter the value from step 1 in the field Send Storeroom Messages to this Job Function in Validation Code Valid Values - Stores Location.

People who need to receive these messages must select Messages from the File menu on the TabWare tool bar, click Include, and click the New Job Function button in the Include Userids window to display the Job Functions popup window. Highlight the entry created in step 1 and click OK.
