TabWare allows you to link documents that exist outside of TabWare to equipment numbers, area codes, serial numbers, stock numbers, and other major data records - even documents that are managed by other document-handling software. The Document Interface Control window allows you to set up standard paths that TabWare uses to locate documents for each module.
Establishing TabWare Standard Links
The TabWare Standard Links tab enables the system administrator to set the paths that TabWare searches when external documents are referenced. This window lets you set different paths for each module and determine if users are allowed to establish a link that is not in that predefined path.
Using TabWare Standard Links
Checking the box beside Use TabWare Std Links allows the system administrator to tell TabWare where to look for stored documents and in what order it should examine the locations when searching for a referenced document. Standard paths can be set for each installed module. If the Use TabWare Std Links box is not checked, users will not be able to attach documents to elements in that module through TabWare standard links.
To Set a TabWare Standard Link Search Path:
1. |
Select the module for which the settings are to be established. |
2. |
Click the checkbox beside the Use TabWare Std Links option. |
3. |
Click the New button. A blank line opens under the Path category. |
4. |
Enter a directory or click on the Browse button to select a directory from the options presented by Windows. From the Browse window, double-click on the drive and subdirectory for the standard path. When the correct path appears in the Current Directory box, click OK. |
5. |
Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add additional directories. |
6. |
If you need to rearrange the order of TabWare's search, highlight the entry to relocate in the list and press the Up or Down button. |
Allow Links Outside Path
Check this box to allow users to link documents that reside in locations other than the paths established as TabWare Standard Links. If the Allow Links Outside Path box is not checked, users will not be allowed to store documents located outside the designated search path for the selected module.
Print Documents with Work Order
Check this box to automatically print linked documents through Work Order Print. To use this feature, your site must purchase an extension to TabWare. Refer to Selecting Work Order Print Options in the Work Orders section for more information about this feature.
Linked Document Print Options
If you print linked documents through Work Order Print, you can use this tab to configure the printing of those documents. Check the appropriate checkboxes to print the page number, file path, and/or work order number at the top of each page of the linked document. You can also tell the system to skip the printing of any linked document with more than a specified number of pages. ImagenationTM may print some documents using a fit to page format; however, you can enter document extensions you do not want printed using the fit to page format.
