The following information explains the fields used on the Foreign Currency Exchange Rates window.

Currency ID and Description

Enter an ID for the currency, such as DM, followed by a description, such as Deutschemark.

Exchange Rate

Enter a value that specifies the rate for converting money amounts between your designated plant currency and another currency. There are two ways to express an exchange rate. The first method specifies the value of your plant currency in relation to the selected foreign currency. For example, one US dollar equals 1.3743 Canadian dollars. Conversely, one Canadian dollar equals .7276 US dollars. Using the first method, enter 1.3743 in the Exchange Rate field. Using the second method, enter .7276 in the Exchange Rate field and click on the Divide by Exchange Rate check box.

Currency Formatting

All of the following fields accept input from the keyboard: Currency Symbol, Decimal Separator, Number of Digits after Decimal, Number of Digits in Group, and Digit Grouping Symbol. The following money amount shows representative examples: $123,456.78. The dollar sign represents the Currency Symbol. The period between the 6 and the 7 represents the Decimal Separator. The value in the Number of Digits after Decimal field is 2. The value in the Number of Digits in Group field is 3. The comma between the 3 and 4 represents the Digit Grouping Symbol.
