Plants having a large volume of small work orders can realize significant time savings by using Quick Work Order Completion. In plants where the system administrator has elected to activate this option, you have a single window which can be activated from the Go To button on the Work Order Search window for taking the following actions:
Changing a work order to a completed status.
Posting completion information, such as repair remarks and analysis codes.
Posting hours worked against the work order. Keep in mind that you cannot post worker time if you are changing the status of the work order to 79—Closed for Charges.
For larger work orders, you still have access to the following windows for performing the same actions: Work Order Status Change and Approval, Event Notebook, and Worker Time Reporting.
There are two suggested procedures for making effective use of the Quick Work Order Completion window.
To Use Work Order Search for a Single Completion:
1. |
From the Work Order Search window, select a work order from the list displayed. |
2. |
Click Go To and select Quick Work Order Completion. The Quick Work Order Completion window displays. |
3. |
If you transferred from Work Order Search, those values appear in the completion window. Otherwise, enter a work order number and press the TAB key. |
4. |
Enter completion and worker time information and click OK to post the information to the database and close the window or click Apply to post the information to the database and keep the window open for completion of another work order. |
To Use Work Order Search for Multiple Completions:
1. |
From the Work Order Search window, perform a search to find a group of work orders for completion. |
2. |
Press the CTRL key while selecting work orders from the displayed list. |
3. |
Click the Go To button and select Quick Work Order Completion. The Quick Work Order Completion window displays, showing the first work order in the group selected. |
4. |
Use the Next and Prior arrows to navigate through the work orders as needed. |
Note: The Apply button does not display when you have selected multiple work orders.
5. |
Enter completion and worker time information to the work order displayed and click OK. The window closes if the work order is last in the group. Otherwise, TabWare displays the next work order in the group. |
Note: If you enter information to a work order and click the Next arrow instead of OK, TabWare asks if you want to update before continuing. If you respond with Yes, TabWare updates the database, then displays the next work order in the group.
The following guidelines apply if your plant uses the Work Order Approval process.
If you are using the Quick Entry-Quick Completion Cycle, TabWare bypasses routines to verify that the work order has been approved.
If you use Work Order Search as the access point, an error message displays if you attempt to use the quick completion with an unapproved work order.
To Do a Quick Entry-Quick Completion Cycle:
1. |
From the Work Order Search window, click the Quick Work Order button. The Quick Work Order window displays. |
2. |
Enter details for the Quick Work Order. |
3. |
When finished, click the Quick Work Order Completion button. The Quick Work Order Completion window displays. |
4. |
Enter completion and worker time information and click OK. |
If the numeric value for Current Status is less than 70, you have the option of changing the value for equipment location. Settings on the Work Order tab of the Equipment Notebook determine if the selected Equipment Location ID can be used for completing the work order.
Select a value from the New Status dropdown list if you want to change the status of the work order. The list available to you includes only those status codes that have a numeric value between 70 and 79.
When first displayed, the window automatically defaults to Remarks as the active setting for entry of completion information. After entering Remarks, click the radio button for Show Analysis Codes to enter codes for conditions found, components serviced, and actions taken.
While performing tasks prescribed on a work order, a worker may discover additional work that needs to be done. The worker’s recommendation can be covered by a new work order or can be added to an existing work order for the same equipment location. Under these circumstances, select the Follow-Up Required checkbox and click OK. This causes either the Quick Work Order window or the Work Order Notebook to display for entry of the new work order (which window opens is determined in Setup-Work Order Setup Options window).
Enter hours worked and other descriptive information for work performed on the selected work order. Refer to Resources for detailed instructions.
