What is TabWare?

TabWareTM is a web-based work process management system designed to run with Microsoft Internet ExplorerTM. TabWare is a 32-bit application. It offers exceptional functionality for facility work process management, and its easy-to-use notebook format relates to facility operations and maintenance activities. Comprehensive on-line help allows users to take full advantage of TabWare’s features.

TabWare is a flexible and powerful tool that uses Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases and simplifies day-to-day activities in maintenance, planning and scheduling, inventory control, and purchasing. Event tracking and history tracking help you monitor overall performance and optimize equipment and personnel resources. TabWare provides control over all text, labels, messages, and windows, enabling you to tailor them to match your operation. All of this control is available to the system administrator without any need for programming.

TabWare uses the latest technology in database design and development. An open systems approach employing a modular relational database design allows database managers to customize the system to specific user needs. TabWare’s easy interoperability with other applications gives you a totally integrated solution for facility maintenance management. TabWare’s design incorporates the following concepts:

Work Process Management

Work process management is the ability to plan, schedule, execute, complete, and report on work performed, using an automated tool. TabWare manages work processes such as work orders, equipment asset management, and inventory management.

Customization

Using a very powerful tool called the Data Dictionary, your system administrator can customize TabWare for each company, plant, and division, and for user-specific needs. The Data Dictionary is the central point for controlling how TabWare operates and appears to the user. The Data Dictionary controls which fields the user sees on the windows; whether a field is required, validated, or protected; the security settings that control which users can see which fields; and all text, including messages, field labels, and window titles that appear in TabWare.

Easy-to-use interface

TabWare’s easy-to-use notebook format relates to facility operations and maintenance activities. You should work with the TabWare system until you become familiar with the user interface. If you need to have additional access to other TabWare fields or screens, contact your system administrator.
